About 'DDMC'

The Khowai Government Degree College, started its journey on the 24th November 1979 at Khowai Govt. Class XII School with only 3(three) students affiliated to Calcutta University . Dr. Mankumar Chakraborty joined as the first Principal of the College. Late Dasaratha Deb, Hon’ble Education Minister of that time laid the foundation stone of the new building of the College at its present location at Lalchera.

Renowned educationist Dr. Bamapada Mukherjee and thereafter Sri Kulada Prasad Roy, Sri S.M. Panikkar, Smt. Shobha Debbarma, Dr, Nikhil Chandra Das, Dr. Budhadeb Majumder, Dr. Sabita Roy had discharged their duties as Principal of the College.

The known at different intervals Govt. Degree College, had been renamed as Dasaratha Deb Memorial College to the name of Ex – Chief Minister and son of soil Late Dasaratha Deb in the month of January 2000. With giving name and fame, the College has attracted large number of Academicians gradually and the present student strength crossed 2000 mark.
